To enhance the skills and expertise of Filipino colorectal surgeons in laser hemorrhoidoplasty, Getz Healthcare Philippines invited key colorectal surgeons from various institutions to attend the Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty Live Case Workshop on August 29, 2024, in Taiwan. 

The workshop, supported and organized by the Getz Healthcare Taiwan Team, was held at the China Medical University Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan, and facilitated by Dr. Jeffrey Sheng-Chi Chang, a renowned colorectal surgeon. 

This event provided an excellent opportunity for the invited doctors to observe a live patient case, enhancing their understanding of laser hemorrhoidoplasty—an innovative treatment option using laser technology to treat hemorrhoids. It also allowed them to develop their skills in using the NeoV Laser System, a cutting-edge microsurgical laser diode instrument for proctology applications. 

Between cases, the surgeons engaged in clinical discussions, asked questions, and furthered their learning from Dr. Jeffrey Sheng-Chi Chang. Educational materials and clinical videos were also shared with the Philippine team. 

The workshop was highly successful, and the surgeons from the Philippines appreciated the knowledge and insights they gained. The format was innovative and engaging. After the workshop, participants concluded that laser hemorrhoidoplasty is a safe and effective alternative for treating hemorrhoids. It offers significant quality-of-life benefits, such as preserving the anatomy and physiology of the anal canal, and reducing the risk of infection and pain compared to traditional surgical techniques. 

Participating doctors are eager to apply their new knowledge and pioneer laser hemorrhoidoplasty in their respective hospitals.
