Getz Healthcare Philippines Diagnostics Team, in collaboration with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and TB People, successfully conducted a Tuberculosis Active Case Finding event, which was held at Talon Dos Las Piñas City. Patient samples were processed and PCR tested on site using Molbio products. We are delighted to have brought the tests to the location with minimal requirements. Our point of care TrueNat delivers Tuberculosis confirmatory testing for all screened patients.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease that primarily affects the lungs. It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and spreads from person to person through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. TB is curable and preventable, but it remains a major public health problem in the Philippines, with an estimated 554,000 cases in 2020.

Active case finding is a key strategy in the fight against TB. It involves identifying people with TB who may not know they have the disease and ensuring they receive appropriate treatment. PCR testing is a rapid and accurate diagnostic tool that can detect TB bacteria in a patient’s sputum sample. Molbio products are known for their high sensitivity and specificity, making them ideal for TB diagnosis.
