The Getz Healthcare Philippines -Diagnostics team together with Molbio Diagnostics Pvt Ltd participated in the 29^th PhilCAT Convention - Scientific Program last August 17 at the Crowne Plaza, Ortigas. The event gave us an opportunity to engage with various stakeholders nationwide from both public and private sectors, TB advocate groups, community leaders and non-governmental organizations.

The Tuberculosis situation (post Covid-19) in Philippines was highlighted giving emphasis to issues and concerns in the implementation of effective TB programs in the community, with the integration of streamed lined patient-centered approaches to TB control at the primary care and national level utilizing novel TB diagnostics & digital solutions to TB services. There were interactive sessions for TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment, giving importance on contact tracing in the detection of TB infection (active and latent).

New developments in TB diagnostics were presented by Dr. Ramon P. Basilio (National TB Reference Lab, RITM). He discussed the latest WHO recommendations and how these tools are being utilized in the PH setting. Truenat® from Molbio was introduced as a technology advancement that can enhance the management of TB, having robust features for active case finding in resource limited settings / primary care health level. Moreover, the shared stories of Dr. Samantha F. Tinsay (MHO-Bantayan Cebu) behind the extended usage of new diagnostics tools gave credence on Truenat’s adaptability in some geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) where TB diagnostic services were successfully done.
